Reports to:

Warehouse421 (general) manager

Job Status:

Permanent, full-time, Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm: 40 hours per week, plus some evening and weekend hours required.

Job Summary:

The Education Programs Manager is responsible for providing creative and strategic leadership to oversee all aspects of the education program. The Education Programs Manager will design, develop, implement, promote, and evaluate Pre-K-12 education programs, Discovery and advanced workshop programs and all other education activities at Warehouse421. This position will also manage front of house, docents and volunteers including recruitment, hiring, orientation, training, scheduling and enrichment.


  • Establishing and maintaining educational programs for Warehouse421 including, but not limited to:
  • Discovery workshops program
  • Advanced workshops and Masterclasses programs
  • Pre-K – 12th grade class field trips to Warehouse421
  • Adult tour groups visiting Warehouse421
  • Evaluate, review and revise education programs to maintain alignment with current international standards
  • Manage volunteer program:
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers
  • Manage volunteer communications
  • Work with volunteers in volunteer positions, tasks, or performance
  • Directs Warehouse421 internship programs
  • Establishes short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the department in consultation with Warehouse421 (general) manager
  • Oversees and/or coordinates major educational initiatives, especially those involving collaborations with external organizations.
  • Conducts audience research and evaluates program effectiveness. Maintains and analyzes statistics on program attendance and cost. Writes reports as requested.
  • Works with exhibitions staff to develop interpretive programs and resources for exhibitions and prepare exhibition text and publications.
  • Manage budgets and expenditure for school programs, discovery and advanced workshops programs and volunteer programs
  • Manage and attend community outreach events
  • Prepare for presentations by compiling materials and arranging presentation space 
  • Maintain strong links with the ministry of Education and the Education Council
  • Build and maintains mutually beneficial relationships with other cultural and community organizations
  • Maintain and develop the education collection of hands-on material; develop and oversee the management of education kits
  • Travel to schools, universities and community centers for presentations
  • Assist in delivering Warehouse421 events as required, which includes occasional evening and weekend hours
  • Serve as a member of the Senior Management Team to achieve institutional goals and objectives
  • Meet weekly with Warehouse421 (general) manager
  • Performing related duties and responsibilities as required

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Education, Art History, Museum Education or a related field
  • Minimum of four years of museum or art center work experience

Skills and Other Characteristics:

  • Experience with education program development and management
  • Experience with volunteer management
  • Experience teaching in a classroom, camp or professional informal learning setting
  • Experience supervising children, youth and adults while maintaining a positive environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Comfortable speaking to large groups and diverse audiences
  • Curiosity and a love for learning
  • Cultural knowledge of the UAE and its diverse populations
  • Oral and written fluency in Arabic desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work well with others in a team setting
  • Self-motivated
  • Flexible and able to handle unexpected situations
  • Ability to commit to a flexible work schedule, including occasional nights and weekends
