WAREHOUSE421 UNVEILS ARTS PROGRAMMING FOR 2016 WITH “WEDNESDAYS AT THE WAREHOUSE”

Starting 20 January, Arts Programming Held Every Two Weeks will Include Workshops, Film Screenings, Panel Discussions and More

Warehouse421, Abu Dhabi’s newest arts and culture destination, announces the launch of ‘Wednesdays at the Warehouse’, a curated program of creative activities and events. Held every other Wednesday evening from 20 January until 27 April, Warehouse421 invites the public to participate in a diverse selection of arts activities including workshops, film screenings, panel discussions and exhibitions.

“Wednesdays at the Warehouse” was created in response to the public’s enthusiasm and support expressed during the launch of Warehouse421. From 19-21 November 2015, 10,000 visitors from the UAE and the region attended the opening held at the port area which introduced aspects of the programme which will be presented through different platforms of expression. All activities are located at Warehouse421 in the Mina Zayed district and are free to attend. Online registration is required.

“After the success of the launch, we wanted to continue the celebration of arts and creativity in Abu Dhabi and the UAE,” says Faisal Al Hassan, the Programming Manager of Wednesdays at the Warehouse. “Through a diversity of workshops, panel discussions, and film screenings amongst other activities, ‘Wednesdays at the Warehouse’ presents unique opportunities for both the avid culture enthusiast and the artistically curious, to be part of the constantly growing art scene in the country.”

‘Wednesdays at the Warehouse’ brings together a curated programme of events and activities presented in collaboration with alumni from the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF) who will lead three workshops; independent cinema platform Cinema Akil who will screen a program of contemporary Arab short and feature films and Lest We Forget who will lead selected workshops and panel discussions.

Khulood Al Atiyat, the Foundation’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Program says: “Both Warehouse421 and ‘Wednesdays at the Warehouse’ fall in line with the Foundation’s mission to ‘invest in the UAE by investing in its people’, by supporting the talented and emerging community of artists and designers of the country while continuing to engage the diverse audiences.”
