Open-calls for the year 2022/23


Comprising of The Artistic Research Grant, The Curatorial and Artistic Developmental Exhibition programs, The Residency, and the Internship and Mentorship Programs, all designed to support emerging practitioners in the MENASA region. 

The open calls fall under the Capacity-Building Programs, which continue to evolve from insights identified through focus groups and studying the response to Warehouse421’s general public programs. The programs invite creative practitioners and professionals from within  the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia regions and who demonstrate a commitment to their chosen creative field.

Artistic Development Exhibition Program

 In collaboration with The Institute for Emerging Art, Warehouse421 launches its Artistic Developmental program, an exhibition process that emphasizes the professional and creative development of participating creative practitioners. The program is open to UAE-based early-mid career creative practitioners and successful applicants will be awarded with a AED10,000 participation fee. The realization and production of their projects will be exhibited at Warehouse421 in 2022.

Curatorial Development Exhibition Program: FUTURE PERFECT

Warehouse421 and the Bombay Institute for Critical Analysis and Research (BICAR) invite curators to propose a group exhibition and publication on ‘Future Perfect: Catastrophe and the Contemporary’. The curatorial development program will entail rigorous study, artist and artwork selection, and writing on the the theme. The successful curator/curatorial collective will receive an award of AED20,000 and participate in a colloquium led by acclaimed MENASA parctitioners. Their proposal will be developed for an exhibition opening in 2022.
