Nomadic Traces: Journeys of Arabian Scripts, curated by Dr Huda Smitshuijzen AbiFarès, continues at Warehouse421 this month. The exhibition explores the origins of six of the most influential alphabets in the history of the Middle East, and features new commissioned works by artists and designers from the region.

This month’s interactive program includes the continuation of short courses on documentary film and theatre acting, as well as a new intermediate course on designing and making jewelry [Introduction to Jewelry Design – Course C] for those that have completed the beginner-level courses in previous months.

New additions this month include a two-part ceramics workshop inspired by ancient archaeology, architecture and mythology, and a unique workshop – inspired by the Nomadic Traces exhibition – in which children will have the opportunity to create a light installation using glow sticks and letters.

The “Khayal” series in collaboration with Early Starters, which brings children’s books to life in imaginative ways, continues in April with a live appearance by the local author and illustrator Maitha Al Khayat, including a number of fun activities inspired by some of her best-known stories.

Our partnership with Thinkers & Doers also continues with a thought provoking discussion on the unfolding relationship between human wellbeing and artificial intelligence on 25 April.

Finally, the “Herstory: Film & The Arab Woman” series, hosted in collaboration with Cinema Akil and featuring contemporary films by or about Arab women, concludes this month with screenings of “Grandma’s Beauty” and “Ya Omri (104 Wrinkles)”.

As always, Warehouse421 is proud to be working with a range of local and international partners including Cinema Akil, Early Starters, Khatt Foundation, and Thinkers & Doers, among others.
