Palestinian Embroidery (Tatreez)
This workshop will introduce participants to the art of Palestinian embroidery known as Tatreez. During the session, artist Joanna Barakat will discuss the history and cultural context of Palestinian embroidery from various Palestine regions before 1948 and its form and meaning after 1948.
Participants will look at how different artists incorporate Tatreez in their work and learn from demonstrating how to cross-stitch. All participants will be encouraged to cross-stitch a motif.

The Cup and The Saucer is the first major solo exhibtion for Hashel Al Lamki. This exhibition explores the breadth of the notions of unity, separation, and individualism. The show seeks to discuss the metaphoric and momentary divorce that takes place when a cup parts from its saucer; and, how within that moment, and that movement of estrangement, a single item breaks into two. A once whole object becomes two separate individuals.
Note: This exhibition is on show at Warehouse421 from 1 September to 25 October.

You Send Me: Beyond Authorship and interiority
This talk takes Sam Cooke’s 1957 song, You Send Me, as a point of departure for thinking through the concept of authorship. Bringing together musical excerpts, critical insight, and research into the song’s writing and public reception, the talk takes up this pop single as a thought experiment that delineates the limits of authorship, which is often understood as the privileged expression of the individual subject.

Palestinian Embroidery (Tatreez)
This workshop will introduce participants to the art of Palestinian embroidery known as Tatreez. During the session, artist Joanna Barakat will discuss the history and cultural context of Palestinian embroidery from various Palestine regions before 1948 and its form and meaning after 1948.
Participants will look at how different artists incorporate Tatreez in their work and learn from demonstrating how to cross-stitch. All participants will be encouraged to cross-stitch a motif.

The Cup and The Saucer
The Cup and The Saucer is the first major solo exhibtion for Hashel Al Lamki. This exhibition explores the breadth of the notions of unity, separation, and individualism. The show seeks to discuss the metaphoric and momentary divorce that takes place when a cup parts from its saucer; and, how within that moment, and that movement of estrangement, a single item breaks into two. A once whole object becomes two separate individuals.
Note: This exhibition is on show at Warehouse421 from 1 September to 25 October.

You Send Me: Beyond Authorship and interiority
This talk takes Sam Cooke’s 1957 song, You Send Me, as a point of departure for thinking through the concept of authorship. Bringing together musical excerpts, critical insight, and research into the song’s writing and public reception, the talk takes up this pop single as a thought experiment that delineates the limits of authorship, which is often understood as the privileged expression of the individual subject.

Storytelling through patterns (STAMP PRINTING)
Participants will work towards creating one or two stamps and use them to print a repeat pattern on a plain textile or paper surface of their choice of surface. Participants will learn how to communicate a pattern design, not just for aesthetic purposes, but also to communicate a message or story.
