Introduction to sewing

Introduction to sewing

This workshop will teach participants to design, plan, and execute a garment piece. It is designed to cover the basics of sewing on a machine, the techniques used for different fabrics, the types of seams, their names and uses.

Participants will learn about the different components of sewing machines, how to identify and resolve an issue when the machine stops working, how to thread the machine, stitch length and tension and the importance of paying attention to every aspect of their craft.

The aim of this class is for participants to become more comfortable using a sewing machine so that they are able to execute a garment when they learn more about the practice of creating clothing.
