Marquetry Art

This course offers a contemporary take on the traditional process marquetry, in which pieces of wood veneer of differing stains and shapes are set onto a surface to form intricate designs. Participants will illustrate a 2-D pattern on CorelDRAW, a graphics editing software, before slicing a sheet of veneer into pieces with a laser cutter to assemble the pattern. The resulting decorative panel can be applied to furniture or mounted on the wall as an artwork. The workshop is led by handicraft artist Haya Sami/Majd Amouri.
