Painting Urban Landscapes

We often overlook urban spaces in search of nature, but what happens when we try to paint the combination of the two, taking inspiration from the Impressionist’s approach to depicting what’s around us. The workshop puts emphasis on methodology and interpretation of urban cityscapes, using drawing and colour to engage our imagination.

Learning outcomes:

  • Participants will learn about the impressionist movement and artist Spencer Gore.
Participants will construct analyse their own work centered around composition, color, value, application, movement, space and tone.
By the end of the workshop, participants will complete their own painting with mentorship and guidance.
