BOOK LAUNCH AT WAREHOUSE421 HIGHLIGHTS MULTICULTURAL INFLUENCE ON ABU DHABI’S VIBRANT CULINARY SCENE

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 24 October 2018: Visitors to Warehouse421 enjoyed a literary feast yesterday evening as the Mina Zayed-based creative hub welcomed author Hanan Sayed Worrell for the launch of her new book. Gathering recipes and stories from a diverse group of UAE residents, ‘Table Tales: The Global Nomad Cuisine of Abu Dhabi’ offers an affectionate tribute to the city’s cosmopolitan blend of cultures.

Special guests at the event included H.E. Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, who delivered thoughtful opening remarks. These were followed by a panel discussion moderated by Noor Al Suwaidi, which offered revealing insights from the author and several contributors to the book, including Asma Seddeq, Ranya Nasser and Manami Tominaga. Attendees were invited to sample some of the delicious dishes featured in the book, and also had the opportunity to purchase signed copies from the author.

‘Table Tales: The Global Nomad Cuisine of Abu Dhabi’ captures the hospitality and sense of togetherness Worrell has encountered since moving from New York to Abu Dhabi in 1994. Inspired by food and friendship, the book tells the story of a community forming itself through the sharing of meals, traditions and culture.

Faisal Al Hassan, Manager at Warehouse421, said: “It’s truly a pleasure to host the launch of the book ‘Table Tales: The Global Nomad Cuisine of Abu Dhabi’, which paints a vivid picture of Abu Dhabi’s ongoing cultural evolution. I’d like to extend my gratitude to the author Hanan Sayed Worrell and to H.E. Noura Al Kaabi for her insightful opening remarks. We are delighted with the turnout this evening, which demonstrates a real hunger among the community for culturally enriching events that speak to local topics.”
